Williams was forced to withdraw from the squad due to work commitments, but said in-form all-rounder Jason Perera would be a good fit for the side.
“I definitely think he’d be a handy inclusion,” he said.
“With the faster bowlers down there I think he’d go well.”
Warrnambool coach Ray Drew said selectors were considering a number of options for Williams’ spot in the side.
He said many of the younger players in the squad had proven records of performing on the big stage and that the association would take the strongest possible side into the week.
“We’re considering our options and there are a number of those at the moment who could come in,” Drew said.
