The Nirranda all-rounder starred for eventual silver medallist Victoria in its Australian Country Cricket Championships twenty20 final series.
Townsend fired a match-winning 62 runs in Victoria’s semi-final win over New South Wales on Tuesday and scored a team-high 45 in its eight-wicket grand final loss to East Asia Pacific in Wollongong on Wednesday.
She finished with 234 runs for the carnival.
“I would like to have gotten a bit more out of myself but I guess that’s pretty good,” Townsend said of her efforts.
“New South Wales bowled quite well yesterday and their captain was very smart.
“She set a very nice field, so it was a matter of getting a good partnership with the girl at the other end and rotating the strike as a much as we could.”
Townsend was rapt with her team’s performances.
“I am proud of the girls with the way we handled ourselves in pressure situations,” she said.
