HATS were the go-to fashion accessory at this year’s Koroit Cup.
The sun shone on the crowd of thousands gathered at the Warrnambool Racecourse on Sunday for what most described as a very informal afternoon.
“We come to the May Races every year,” said racegoer Julieann Scott. “But this has a different feel, its very relaxed.”
Warrnambool Racing Club sales and marketing manager Brad Pole said the weather played a large part in the success of the all-ages event.
“There looks to be more here than last year,” he said.
“This is in-part thanks to it being such a beautiful day, and the kids entertainment area is also a real hit.”
Children at Sunday’s racemeet were entertained on the racecourse grounds with supervised activities offering showbags, games, rides and competitions throughout the day’s racing.
The Koroit Cup is the final leg of the summer racing series, following the Port Fairy and Woodford Cups.
