The Cats this week announced the re-signing of future leader Justin Fedley and have had experienced heads in Brad Williams and Ben Lenehan re-commit for next season.
Holloway expected his side to be charged with youth but said the “eight or nine” experienced players still at the club would be vital in guiding the up-and-comers into senior football.
He said the club would look to move away from relying on money to draw players to the club and was ready to invest in youth. “For a small community, we have to go down that (youth) path. We want local kids playing their footy at the club,” he said.
“In the last three or four years we’ve probably had a team which has underachieved. “There is no use looking back. We’ve got to be positive to develop these young guys. We want to be looking after our younger blokes. The more guys you can keep around the club, the more will stay.
“We’re hopeful Darren Kelly will pull on the boots again and hopefully we'll have an assistant coach and a couple of other new guys in the new year. As far as Brett and I are concerned, we’re looking forward and ahead and we’re excited for new year. It’s all systems go.”
Holloway, a former under 17s and reserves coach at the club, said the Cats possessed a number of talented youngsters on the cusp of senior selection.
