A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a four-wheel-drive north-east of Melbourne on Sunday evening.

Police believe the motorcycle was travelling east on the Murray Valley Highway, near Rutherglen, about 7pm when the collision occurred.
The male motorcyclist died at the scene.
The driver of the 4WD stopped at the scene of the crash and was not injured.
The Murray Valley Highway is closed between Police Paddocks Road and Gooramadda Road.
Drivers are being urged to take alternative routes if possible.
