It means the matter won’t be re-examined until state parliament resumes in February, although state Greens leader Greg Barber it will be March before a vote happens
A release from environment minister Lily D’Ambrosio and racing minister Martin Pakula called the Greens’ notice of motion for disallowance “bewildering”.
“While this reckless action shows that the Greens have no interest in solving this complex issue, we welcome the decision of the Warrnambool Racing Club (WRC) to abide by the spirit of the licences until they are introduced,” the press release said.
Mr Barber said it buys time to properly examine the government plan and seek a better compromise.
WRC has begun issuing 50 licences in anticipation of parliament passing the government’s plan this week.
