The East Warrnambool boy was one of many hopeful anglers, casting a line to score the catch of the season.
Peter told the photographer that he had already felt “one bite” but it had escaped.
The angling club competition attracted 45 entries across the region.
Despite the bitterly cold weekend, fishermen of all ages were out and about on the search for big bream.
Aspiring angler D. Turland won the heaviest bream for the junior section with his one pound 11 ounce catch of the day.
The young man was also the winner of the largest catch all-round and was presented with a prize in early December.
