Warrnambool College Hopkins House students held a variety of fund-raisers throughout the year to raise $1800 for the Francis Foundation. Hopkins House assistant head Jackson Greene said each of the school’s houses supported its own charity
“We feel pretty special that we’re the only local charity and I think the kids really enjoy the fact that they can see where their money goes,” he said.
The Francis Foundation’s Peter McMahon said the organisation relied on community support for its survival.
“What these guys do is just amazing. It’s kids that are taking an interest and taking an interest in their community and I think that’s great,” he said.
Students have raised more than $5000 for the Francis Foundation in five years, with the $1800 raised this year the best result for Hopkins House so far.
