The pint-sized character is selling faster than the number of days left until Christmas.
Capturing the imagination of children worldwide, the adopted elf reports to Santa nightly on who’s been naughty and nice before changing location in a house or classroom in a festive game of hide and seek.
Warrnambool stores sold out of the elf last week but are restocking to appease desperate parents.
Collins Bookstore’s Sarah Schietroma believes the toy’s popularity is here to stay.
“We can’t even keep up. Interest has doubled this year and we never seem to have enough. We’ve just managed to get more from Ballarat, but they’ll go fast,” she said.
