Warrnambool police Leading Senior Constable Greg Kew said the man suffered a medical episode while heading east on the Princes Highway about 6.30pm on Tuesday.
“He’s ran off the road prior to the Jubilee Park Road intersection,” Leading Senior Constable Kew said. “He's bloody lucky.”
“He's had a medical episode, lost control and rolled it as well,” he said.
The driver’s car came to rest on the median strip and Leading Senior Constable Kew said the driver could have travelled into the path of oncoming west-bound traffic.
“It’s incredible how lucky we are.”
Units from the Warrnambool SES, ambulance and police and Allansford CFA attended the scene. The driver was taken to the Warrnambool Base Hospital.
