The New Year’s Eve street parade is again shaping up as a monumental event.
Moyneyana Festival publicity officer Henry Toller-Bond said early interest in the parade was strong.
“We are getting plenty of entries coming in and we are very confident of matching the 50 floats we had last year,” Mr Toller-Bond said.
“The theme of the festival this year is ‘Sea, Sand and Song’ so that gives people a really broad brush for ideas to create their floats.
“Last year we had a continuous circle of floats around Sackville, Bank, James and Campbell streets.
“That was wonderful. It provided something to see non-stop during the parade and this year will be no different. We welcome trucks, buses, motorbikes, bicycles, people walking ... it is all inclusive.”
Entries for the parade are being taken at the Port Fairy Visitor Information Centre.
Other entertainment confirmed for New Year’s Eve in the Port Fairy CBD includes a performance on Fiddler’s Green by the band ‘The Tank Dilemma’.
The backwards retro race will again take place down Sackville Street with the Port Fairy Rotary Club coordinating this event.
The new year will be welcomed in spectacular fashion with a fireworks display.
The promotion of the Moyneyana Festival is ramping up with committee members working together to erect street banners on power poles in Sackville Street last weekend.
Decorations and the sponsorship board will be put up on the Lecture Hall wall in the coming days.

Mr Toller-Bond said a full program of activities for the festival would be released soon.
“The program will go to the printer next week,” Mr Toller-Bond said.
“It will be ready to distribute by the middle of December.”
Festival committee member Sue Flaherty designed the front cover of the program which includes an image of Port Fairy’s iconic lighthouse.
Mr Toller-Bond said a highlight of the program would be the CBD Alive activities planned for Fiddler’s Green.
