Serong’s The Rules Of Backyard Cricket is one of six works nominated in the fiction section of the Victorian Premier’s Literary Awards.
The winner will receive $25,000 and contest the Victorian Prize for Literature.
The Rules Of Backyard Cricket – which details the rise and fall of a cricketer and his fraught relationship with his brother – is up against Georgia Blain’s Between a Wolf and a Dog, Micheline Lee’s The Healing Party, Sean Rabin’s Wood Green, Philip Salom’s Waiting, and Laura Elizabeth Woollett’s The Love Of A Bad Man.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on January 31.
