For the third year running, Hudson will perform a live score for a silent film in what is a traditional year-end event for F Project Cinema.
This year’s movie is Safety Last!, Lloyd’s 1923 comedy classic.
Regarded as Lloyd’s best film, it is best known for its iconic stunt in which the actor hangs from the hands of a clock several stories above a busy street.
Lloyd was rated alongside Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton as the big comedy stars of the silent era.
He was awarded an honorary Oscar in 1953 and Safety Last! was added to the American Library Of Congress’ National Film Registry in 1994. It was the oldest film on the American Film Institute’s “100 Thrills” list of 2001.
Hudson previously collaborated with multi-instrumentalist Matt Hewson to perform live scores for Buster Keaton’s The General and FW Murnau’s Nosferatu.
Safety Last! will be screened at Warrnambool’s Mozart Hall from 7.30pm on Wednesday.
