Detective Senior Constable Wayne Ryan, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said offenders entered the unlocked house sometime between noon on Thursday and noon Friday and took the jewellery.
"The stolen items include the victim's mother's jewellery and her own engagement and wedding rings," he said.
"We would warn all residents in rural areas to be security conscious, lock up when you are not home and look out for your neighbours."
Detective Senior Constable Ryan also called on rural residents to take note of people knocking on their doors.
"If there are unusual vehicles in your area, please take down a registration plate number," he said.
"People in rural areas need to be vigilant and look out for each other.”
Police are also seeking information after offenders broke into a Kepler Street dental clinic, on the north side of Raglan Parade, early Sunday.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan said offenders forced entry to a door at 12.20am and stole $600 in cash.
Two males on push bikes were seen in the area about the time of the break-in.
Police said a gang of thieves had committed four crimes across the region on Tuesday last week.
Detective Senior Constable Ryan said the Nullawarre store was broken into and about 100 packets of cigarettes removed.
An empty cash register and soft drinks were taken from the Cobden fish and chip shop in Curdies Street.
The Naroghid waste transfer station was also burgled but nothing was stolen.
There was also an attempted burglary at the Foodworks store in Derrinallum.
"The offences appear to have been committed in that order by the same offenders. Security camera footage is being reviewed," Detective Senior Constable Ryan said.
