Introducing drive on the left stickers in rental cars is one of the initiatives VicRoads is exploring to improve safety on the Great Ocean Road.
Regional director Mark Koliba said the organisation was “keenly aware” of improving awareness and education among international drivers on the popular tourist route.
“VicRoads are exploring a joint project with Tourism Victoria to install Drive on Left stickers inside rental vehicles and provide road rule advice brochures,” he said.
“We are also looking at partnering with tourism businesses and information centres along the Great Ocean Road to reinforce the drive on left message.”
Mr Koliba said since February, 88 new line-marked arrows had been painted between Anglesea and Peterborough.
Another 30 arrows will be painted on the Great Ocean Road from this month.

“Generally these arrows are located adjacent to car parks and lookout areas along the Great Ocean Road, ensuring maximum exposure for international tourists and visitors,” Mr Koliba told The Standard.
“There are also approximately 60 Drive on Left in Australia signs along the Great Ocean Road.”
It comes after residents, local councillors and police have all called for more safety initiatives to reduce the number of crashes and near-misses on and around the internationally-renowned tourist route.
