Nullawarre farmer and wrapping contractor Jason Burleigh said farmers wanted to get on board and were willing to pay more for the colourful silage wrapping to support charities.
The different colours represent the McGrath Foundation in pink and Australian Prostate Cancer Research in blue.
“The plastic market is big,” he said. “I think we’re all willing to make a contribution to help in whatever way we can.”
He said the area had been touched by cancer, which had pulled the rural community together.
“Everyone wants to get involved and get behind it,” he said. “You just don’t know what’s around the corner.”
Curdievale farmer Jodi Probert said it was easy to get sick of black and green plastic and the pink and blue brought life to the paddock.
She said her family had been affected by prostate cancer and it was “good to look around at something that’s worthwhile”.
