EXHIBITIONS

MADELEINE PETERS – TEN PAINTINGS: Super Kawaii Studio, Warrnambool, December 3 & 4. Award-winning Warrnambool artist Madeleine Peters’ first solo show in Warrnambool in five years.

VCE SHOWCASE: Hamilton Gallery, until December 3. Creative works by students from Baimbridge, Hamilton & Alexandra, Monivae, Good Shepherd and Balmoral colleges.

IMPACT: The Artery, Warrnambool, until December 11. Collections of works from nine south-west printmakers to mark the “Year Of Print”.

GROUND FLOOR: WAG, until December 11. Annual year-ender exhibition from South West TAFE students.

THE BELGIANS HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN: Lighthouse Studio, December 9-23. Touring exhibition commemorating the efforts of international soldiers who fought in Belgium in WWI.

EDITIONS: Customs House Gallery, Hawkesdale, until December 31. An exhibition of prints by Kyoko Imazu and David Frazer.

MINI MASTERPIECES: The Artery, December 14-January 8. F Project members contribute small pieces for this big end-of-year show.

SHAUN TAN – SOMEWHERE NOWHERE: WAG, until February 5. Acclaimed illustrator Shaun Tan delves into the imagination in this new exhibition.

JENNY NOYES – PERFORMANCE ON AN EGG: WAG, until February 5. Collection of weird and wonderful “egg worlds”, created by former Warrnambool artist Jenny Noyes.

PHONSE MCGRATH – CITYSCAPES: Hamilton Gallery, December 9-February 19. Coleraine-born Phonse McGrath’s display of paintings and drawings depicting cities around the world.

AH XIAN – AXIOM: Hamilton Gallery, until February 26. Chinese-Australian artist Ah Xian uses ceramic busts to explore varied states of being.

SHANE JONES – UNKNOWING THE REAL: WAG, December 10-February 26. New show from acclaimed Melbourne artist Shane Jones.

MAKER’S MARKET: 57 Thompson Street, Hamilton, until December 23. Local artists have joined forces for this daily arts and crafts market.

SWAN LAKE: Lighthouse Theatre, Warrnambool, December 1, 7.30pm. The Russian National Ballet presents one of the world’s best known ballets.

STORY CLUB: The Artery, December 1, 6pm. Local writer’s group, featuring feedback sessions and exercises.

TWO DAYS, ONE NIGHT: Killara Centre, Camperdown, December 1, 7.30pm. Corangamite Film Society screens this drama about a woman (Marion Cotillard) trying to convince her co-workers to reject a pay bonus so she can keep her job.

GIRL ASLEEP: Reardon Theatre, Port Fairy, December 2, 1.30pm & 7.30pm. Fundraiser screenings of this acclaimed Aussie coming-of-age drama, screened by Port Fairy Film Society.

PROUDSPOKEN: Proudfoots Boathouse, Warrnambool, December 2, 8pm. Monthly spoken word event, featuring guest artist Arielle Cottingham.

CHRISTMAS PARTY & MARKET: Fletcher Jones Gardens, Warrnambool, December 3, 9am. Celebration featuring a fashion parade, artists stalls, live entertainment and more.

ARTISTS MARKET: Port Campbell Arts Space, December 3, 11am. Handmade arts and crafts feature at this Christmas market.

WORKSHOP: Julia Street Creative Space, Portland, December 3 & 11, 1pm. Join Maureen Watts for a session on “free-form” crochet.

WORKSHOP: The Artery, Warrnambool, December 3, 1pm. Join Ricky Schembri for a pastel art class.

ART PARTY: Ozone Alley, Warrnambool, December 3, 3pm. Includes Coaster Art Show opening and more.
