Jamie Aaron Underwood, 44, was living at his deceased mother's home at Ardonachie School Road in Macarthur before Hamilton police arrested him at 1.20am Friday at the Commonwealth Bank.

A police check found he was wanted on four warrants issued in the Geelong Magistrates Court in November 1993.

Warrnambool police prosecutor Senior Constable Paul Harris had Underwood remanded in custody across the weekend.

On Monday Mount Gambier police detectives applied for Underwood to be transferred into their care so he could appear in the Mount Gambier Magistrates Court later that day.

Magistrate John Lesser made the order, noting that Underwood was taking medication for anxiety, depression and asthma.

A South Australian warrant indicates Underwood is wanted after being charged with 11 serious sex offences, including two counts of rape.

On Friday, when told of the charges, Underwood said: “Excuse me for being shocked, but no-one told me all this.” 

Underwood pleaded guilty on Friday to 10 historic offences including theft of cars, unlicensed driving, going equipped to steal, theft and failing to answer bail.

He was convicted and fined $1000.

Magistrate Ann McGarvie was informed that, at that time, Underwood had just completed an eight-month jail term.

Underwood said everything he owned was in his car, which was stranded in Hamilton. This includes legal papers and photos.

He said his house at Port Augusta had been ransacked and he had lost possessions gathered during the past decade.

Underwood said he had been in Macarthur to finalise his mother's affairs.
