Koroit Police Sergeant Pat Day said a woman in her 60s was travelling from Melbourne to Narrawong when she fell asleep near the intersection of Heywood-Woolsthorpe Road and Hopcrafts Road at Willatook on Thursday morning.
Sergeant Day said the crash occurred about 8.15am, with the car leaving the road, going through a farm fence and spinning 180 degrees before coming to rest in a paddock.
The woman sustained back injuries and was taken to Warrnambool Base Hospital.
“Fatigue management is really important,” Sergeant Day said.
“This poor lady had no idea what had happened – she woke up in the paddock with a sore back.”
