On behalf of my family I would like to say that we are extremely grateful for the recent Ambulance Victoria 000 adverts on TV.
About four weeks ago my husband Mike was travelling to Warrnambool from Timboon when he experienced severe chest pains with a suspected heart attack.
After seeing these adverts he rang 000 on his mobile and the operator kept him calm until the Community Emergency Response Team arrived less than 10 minutes later.
The ambulance crew stabilised him for the trip to the base hospital at Warrnambool.
The doctors there were calm, professional, caring and reassuring.
Mike had suffered a heart attack and was treated to stop the attack and to stabilise him for the helicopter trip to Geelong.
He had a triple bypass the next morning and after a few days at the hospital he came home.
We are so lucky in this region to have a great network of doctors, nurses, ambulance services and post-operative support to look after us.
We hear so many negative stories regarding all these services but we have nothing but praise for the way Mike was treated every inch of the way.
They deserve all the kudos we can give them.
He is well on his way to recovery now and I would like to thank everyone involved that helped save his life.
