In turn, the UK export has taken her adopted home into her heart and art.
The results can be seen in her latest show Between Us & The Horizon, which will be officially opened at The Artery in Warrnambool on Saturday from 6pm.
Local landscapes loom large in the collection alongside paintings of Scotland and Kakadu.
Healey moved to the south-west two years ago after falling in love with an Aussie while backpacking in South America. Since landing in Warrnambool she has been racking up the art prizes – she has won the Inspired by Burns Art Prize at Camperdown’s Robert Burns Festival two years running, and also had success at the City of Warrnambool Art Show.
“I feel so lucky to live in Warrnambool,” Healey said.
“Not only is the landscape completely inspiring, but the local art scene is really supportive.”
The exhibition runs until November 27.
