The truck clipped a post on the verandah of McLeans Electrical just after 4.30pm on Friday, causing the verandah to fall to the footpath below.
Luckily no one was injured with the shop empty at the time.
An asbestos expert was called to the scene to remove asbestos from the veranhah before it could be knocked down. The street was closed during this time.
Commercial Road was re-opened at 7.45pm.
