Shipwreck Day Club co-ordinator Sharon Patton organised the event at Legacy House, which included a performance by Sing Australia, games and lunch.
“We had an excellent day,” Mrs Patton said.
This year’s theme is social connection and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs partnered with ex-service organisations’ and community groups to develop a program of events across Australia.
Mrs Patton said the day encouraged ex-service members, their families and residents to get together to help address isolation.
“There’s people out there who are isolated. We’re not a structured group we have people come and go. It’s so people aren’t stuck at home 24/7,” she said.
“Our members are in Legacy and Probus. There’s a couple who come to our day club weekly and say it’s the best thing they’ve ever done.”
