New councillor Wayne Oakes will join renominating councillors Ruth Gstrein and Chris O'Connor at Corangamite.
CORANGAMITE'S two new councillors say they are looking forward to getting straight down to business.
Central Ward's Wayne Oakes, who joins renominating councillors Ruth Gstrein and Chris O'Connor around the table, described his win as "very humbling".
"It's very exciting and it's a huge honour," Mr Oakes told The Standard yesterday. "I think wow - what an absolute privilege."
Mr Oakes spent time at the Camperdown Cruise before heading across to Glenormiston College where the results were announced on Saturday evening. "I've never looked at my watch so many times during the day," he admitted.
Mr Oakes, who has never attended a Corangamite council meeting previously, said he was looking forward to the challenges of the next four years
Neil Trotter will take over from retiring mayor Matt Makin in the shire's south-west ward after defeating Simone Renyard 854 votes to 597.
Mr Trotter said he enjoyed the campaign, and while he was not over-confident, thought he may have had the numbers.
Mr Trotter paid tribute to Cr Makin, saying while he had differences of opinion with him on several issues, the outgoing mayor had been a good advocate for road funding, Timboon's new child care centre, industries and businesses and the needs of farmers.
