In a side graced with proven batting talent, the Tigers’ top-order are still searching for consistency leading out of a month of Twenty20 clashes with competition including north Warrnambool-based powerhouse Woodford.
“A lot of our players are reaching the 20s and 30s with their runs, but we’d like to turn those into 40s and 50s,” he said.
“Our focus this year has been to play an aggressive, confident game and to be smart about the decisions we’re making when we’re at the crease. “In (limited overs cricket) little things can change a game. If we lift our bowling too and apply ourselves at the crease, hopefully our top order batsmen can start making runs.”
Gannon called on his players to lift for the clash against Wesley-CBC on Saturday.
“We didn’t bat all that well even though we got the win last time we played them (in the Twenty20 rounds),” he said.
Elsewhere, East Warrnambool are set to lock horns with in-form Allansford.
Port Fairy will host ladder-leading Nestles, while Russells Creek’s undefeated streak will be tested by Dennington at Jetty Flat.
Woodford will host Brierly, while Nirranda battle West.
