The Hampden Specialist School pupil added more accolades to an already illustrious junior career when she was awarded the Girls Overall Track and Field Champion for the Greater Western Region for success at the regional titles a fortnight ago.
She will now vie for national selection at the annual All Schools event, held in Melbourne, at which she will compete in multi-class 100, 200 and 800 metres, as well as the long jump and shotput events.
Caytlyn’s mother, Cindy, said the last month had been an exciting time for the family.
“Her success at the Greater Western Region and Victorian championships was a bit of a surprise,” she said. “She was able to compete against people training at a really high level. “At the state championships, she was able to race against last year’s Multi-Class 100 and 200 metre champion. It was the first time Caytlyn’s been able to beat her.”
