The annual celebration of sports, which Warrnambool is hosting this year, saw gymnastics and Funakoshi karate events on Saturday.
There will be ricochet croquet and rowing on Wednesday, with the Warrnambool Seaside Basketball junior carnival and Portland’s 3 Bays marathon among the events on the weekend.
South West Games organiser Mark Taylor said excitement was building ahead of the official opening weekend on November 4-6.
“We have a public opening (ceremony) on the Civic Green at 6.30pm (on November 4) where we’ll be announcing all the sports,” he said.
“It’s just building the excitement to the official start of the games.”
