The Warrnambool Toy Library event was not just a fundraiser for the voluntary-run group but a way of encouraging more members to sign up.
“Ideally we need more members to keep our heads above water,” committee member Lori Horwill said. “We’re trying to keep the service afloat because we know how valuable it is.”
Sunday’s Messy Play Day was so popular, organisers are now talking about the possibility of holding a similar event in the future. “It’s been such a massive success. We were absolutely blown away by how many people were there. We did not anticipate how many people would be there,” she said.
The toy library has recently rejigged its membership structure and is also on the hunt for a new home. It operates between 9.30am and 11.30am on Wednesday and Saturday behind the old Henna Street video store.
