The 2011 South Warrnambool premiership player has moved back to Victoria after a two-year stint in Queensland, eager to return to the competition which propelled him to state league ranks.

Sully, 24, has connections at the Roosters and Port Fairy, where his cousins, including senior regular Jake Hetherington, play.

He is yet to make a decision on his playing future but is excited to be home in the south-west.

“I moved back last week and had a couple of meetings with clubs,” Sully said.

Sully is coming off a consistent season for NEAFL side Southport.

He was named at full-back in the team of year after recovering from a knee injury which ruined his first season up north.

“I had a decent year but we struggled as a team and that’s all the matters to me personally,” Sully said.

“But it was good to repay the faith they (Southport) showed in me and have a good, solid year.

“I hurt my knee the year before and couldn’t get on top of it, which was pretty frustrating.

“I had no dramas this year – I didn’t miss a game.”

The NEAFL team of the year honour was Sully’s second at state level.

He made the 2013 VFL best 22 after a standout season for Geelong which piqued AFL recruiters’ interest and had him in draft calculations that year.
