But Warrnambool-trained Black Heart Bart might be the sleeper, according to Jarrod McLean. The Darren Weir Warrnambool satellite stable foreman has overseen Black Heart Bart’s preparation for the group one contest over 2040 metres.
“I think we all know how good Winx and Hartnell are,” McLean said.
“They both have outstanding records. Winx is going for her 13th consecutive win, while Hartnell has taken all before him in this campaign, winning his last three.
“But I'm only saying we can't forget it's a horse race and anything can happen. I just reckon if there is a chink in the armour of either horse, Black Heart Bart will be there.
“He's improved since his last start second to Winx in the Caulfield Stakes. His track work on the course proper at Warrnambool on Tuesday was excellent.”
