Donald John Chatfield, of Warrumyea Road, did not appear in Warrnambool Magistrates Court for a remand hearing on Friday morning as he felt unwell due to him withdrawing from ice use..
A solicitor for Mr Chatfield told magistrate Peter Mellas her client was arrested on Thursday night and custody management issues included his Aboriginality and that he was withdrawing from ice use.
The magistrate remanded Mr Chatfield in custody until November 11 and noted there was no application for bail.
9.30am: A 32-YEAR-OLD Framlingham man will appear in court on Friday after a raid involving Victoria Police special operations group officers located four firearms.
Detective Sergeant Chris Asenjo, of the Warrnambool police crime investigation unit, said Warrnambool detectives and members of the SOG unit executed a search warrant at a Warrumyea Road property at 4.45pm Thursday.
He said an ongoing investigation, involving SOG support, had targeted drug trafficking and firearm-related violence committed during the past couple of months.
The 32-year-old man was arrested during the raid and police located four firearms and ammunition at the property.
The firearms included a loaded sawn-off 410 shotgun, a sawn-off double barrel shotgun believed to be stolen from Halls Gap mid year, a sawn-off air rifle and a .22 pen pistol.
The ammunition included shotgun shells and .22 bullets.
Police also found prohibited weapons including swords and other items believed to be stolen including motorbikes and car accessories.
The man was interviewed in relation to a number of incidents alleged to have been committed in the Warrnambool district during the past two months.
Detective Sergeant Asenjo said the man had been charged with 23 offences including making threats to kill with a shotgun.
The charged man has been remanded in custody and will appear in the Warrnambool Magistrates Court on Friday for a bail/remand hearing.
