THE State Government has allocated $1.2 million dollars for the resheeting of a two kilometer section of the Henty Highway between Branxholme and Hamilton.
Transport Minister Terry Mulder said another $1 million had also been allocated for resheeting two 500 metre sections of the Great Ocean Road at Mepunga, east of Warrnambool, and Marengo, near Apollo Bay.
Mr Mulder said the grant for the work on the Henty Highway followed lobbying last year by local community members who included trucking operators.
"Their lobbying has been successful," Mr Mulder said.
He said the extra road funding was part of a $45 million Repair and Restore Statewide package that would lift the State Government's spending on road asset management this financial year to $432 million.
