Second lieutenant Steve Giblin said brigade members donned breathing apparatus to defend a house in McVicar Street as part of a training exercise.
“Twice a year the Koroit fire brigade have their skills tested,” Mr Giblin said. “We try and make it as realistic as possible.”
He said Moyne Shire closed the street to traffic from 7.30pm to 9.30pm and Murray Goulburn provided the house for the training.
Mr Giblin expects the start of the 2016/17 fire season to be delayed to January or February due to rain the region has had in recent months.
