Lane finished in a bunch just 15 minutes behind winner Nathan Elliott, notching the 20-year-old honours as the top-placed south-west athlete in the historic race.
He finished in 21st place, the same position as his effort last year, and said the race had stepped up a notch from last year.
“It was a lot harder than last year,” Lane said.
“I was feeling alright, but when we got to the hill they just went hard again and I just couldn’t go with them. But I was pretty happy with how it all went.”
