The 3.8 metre high steel sculpture, installed on the southern bank of Cobden Lake, forms the shape of a swan’s neck with steel wedges driven into the centre with red gum seating at the base.
Sculptor Richard Walker said the water bird representation was an obvious reflection of bird life on the lake.
Regional Arts Victoria representative Jo Grant agreed and said the community should feel proud of it.
“In my mind it’s a swan overlooking the lake, and it’s also functional – it’s a seat. It’s designed to allow you to contemplate as you take in this beautiful view.”
