Event coordinator Andrew Suggett sought numbers for the event by challenging all 25 Warrnambool City Council candidates to attend as a sign of support for the community.
“The Melbourne Walk in the Park recently attracted 3000 walkers,” Mr Suggett said. “As a percentage of population we, in Warrnambool need a minimum of 261 walkers to beat Melbourne. With the help of the city council candidates, I believe we will beat Melbourne.”
The walk will begin at the breakwater at 11am.
