Fish stocking trucks began delivering tens of thousands of yearling trout from Monday as part of the State Government’s Target One Million plan, which aims to get more people fishing.
Cobden Angling Club secretary Les Blake said water levels had been low until a couple of months ago and it was great that the rainbow and brown trout had been restocked.
“Hopefully the water level will stay up so we can get in in summer,” Mr Blake said. “We’re quite pleased at how high it is. Hopefully it doesn’t get too hot.”
Mr Blake said there had been some good fishing lately with anglers catching trout and redfin.
Lake Bolac will also be stocked with 8000 rainbow trout. Lake Colac is on a watch-list to be stocked if water levels continue to improve.
