The initiative was inspired by Brophy Family and Youth Services as part of the Safe in the South West project, funded by the state government’s Health Equal Youth initiative.
Youth projects co-ordinator Lyn Eales said support groups were set up for LGBTQ youth through YUMCHA but Brophy had identified a need to provide a space for their parents and families.
“It’s everyone’s human right to be who they are and to live safely within the community,” she said.
