MEMBERS of legendary Australian rock band Cold Chisel are returning to Warrnambool next year for the first time since the late 1970s.
Following on from a busy year touring together with a reunited Cold Chisel, Jimmy Barnes and Ian Moss will share the stage as solo performers at the Warrnambool racecourse on March 30.
Part of the Red Hot Summer Tour’s Aussie Rock Extravaganza, the festival line-up also features three other iconic artists — Baby Animals, Dragon and Chocolate Starfish.
As a legend both from his time fronting Cold Chisel and his top-charting solo career, Barnes is no stranger to Warrnambool, having headlined the Red Hot Summer Tour multiple times in recent years.
With Moss joining the tour, it will be the duo’s first visit to the region together since performing with their iconic pub rock band in 1979 at the Lady Bay Hotel.
Now with a group of his own, Moss’ catalogue of albums traverse the blues-rock genre and showcase his skills as a guitarist and singer.
Dragon also has a long history with Aussie music fans, having gained a huge following after moving from New Zealand in the 1970s.
Since being joined by established solo artist Mark Williams, who some will remember from his hit No Mercy, Dragon’s new line-up has managed to also garner a new generation of fans.
Baby Animals burst onto the Australian scene in the 1990s with the solid rock force of sassy lead singer Suze Demarchi.
At their peak the band toured the globe with the likes of Bryan Adams, Black Crowes and Van Halen, but later split in the mid-1990s, making their inclusion on the Red Hot Summer Tour line-up a rare chance for fans to relive a memorable era in Aussie rock.
