Mr Harris said if he was elected he would work towards transforming the council-owned land near the corner of Laverock and Woodend Roads into parkland.
“Door knocking the Warrnambool west area has been an extremely positive experience with many people supporting the proposal,” he said. “Part of the park could be still fenced off for the current use of housing horses and paths improved so that there is better connectivity between Warrnambool west and the rest of the city. The paths would allow people to go on their walks as well as students being able to access the schools.”
Mr Harris said Warrnambool west was the only residential area that did not have significant park facilities within about two kilometres. “The park could have a playground for the younger children and maybe a small oval, cricket pitch and a basketball ring,” he said.
