Police said the Stoitse Transport truck driver, a Warrnambool man aged in his 50s, was interviewed by police on Wednesday evening.
Investigations into the cause of the accident with a dump truck are continuing.
The accident happened south of the Tooram Road railway crossing on a bend widely regarded as dangerous. The dump truck cabin impacted with the second B-double trailer.
It is believed the milk tanker B-double pulled onto Tooram Road before the collision happened.
The dump truck had to be pulled back about a metre to allow emergency service access to the injured man.
Wednesday, 10pm: A Warrnambool man is fighting for his life in a Melbourne hospital after two trucks crashed near Allansford.
The man, 46, was trapped in his truck for more than an hour, before he was flown to The Alfred hospital in a critical condition with pelvis and leg injuries.
Warrnambool Highway Patrol Sergeant Dean Greenwood said the man had life threatening injuries from the crash involving a milk tanker and a haulage truck on Tooram Road.
Warrnambool SES commander Adam Jones said crews worked closely with road and flight paramedics to free the heavily trapped man from the wreckage.
“The man was trapped for more than one hour while efforts were made to stabilise both trucks,” he said.
An hour earlier, six people were taken to Warrnambool hospital in a stable condition after a two-vehicle collision at Terang.
UPDATE 6.49pm: A spokesman from The Alfred hospital said the man was in a critical condition. Earlier an Ambulance Victoria spokeswoman said the man had sustained leg and pelvis injuries.
UPDATE 4.25pm: The man freed from his vehicle will be taken to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne via air ambulance.
He has sustained internal injuries.
UPDATE 4.15pm: Emergency services have freed the man who was trapped in his truck.
UPDATE 3.40pm: The dump truck involved in this afternoon’s crash collided with the second trailer of the tanker.

EARLIER: A MAN is trapped in his truck after a crash at Allansford this afternoon.
Emergency services are responding to an incident at Tooram Road, Allansford after two trucks – a dump truck and a tanker – crashed.
An air ambulance has arrived on scene and ambulance, Country Fire Authority and Warrnambool State Emergency Service officials are responding.
Dirt from the dump truck has fallen onto the tanker.
Tooram Road is closed to traffic.
