Club president Glendon Dickinson said some competitors would use Sunday’s Beretta Grand Prix at its Woolsthorpe complex to prepare for the sporting clay national titles in Brisbane the following weekend.
Dickinson said the grand prix, which is in its 10th year and is expected to attract between 180 and 220 shooters, was laden with high-quality marksmen.
“Indications so far is that John Younger, who won two years ago, is coming back for it,” he said.
“Jack Gibbs, who won the state title for sporting clays two weeks ago at Laang, is coming back for it.”
Laang’s Steve Chilton, Winslow’s John Maher and Colac’s Wayne Lowan are south-west hopefuls in AA, which is the top grade. There are seven grades in total.
