Dozens of parking inspectors have walked off the job in Melbourne and will not be issuing fines over the grand final weekend, according to the Australian Services Union.

But those travelling into the CBD still risk being fined if they choose not to pay for parking or abide by parking signs.
About eight of the 60 usually rostered inspectors will remain patrolling central Melbourne, the union said.
"We can't guarantee that people won't get a fine. It's up to commuters in the city if they abide by the law," ASU organiser Ty Lockwood said.
City of Melbourne chief executive Martin Cutter said every shift on Friday had been filled.
"We will continue to have officers out over the weekend and do not expect major disruptions," Mr Cutter said.
The action is part of an ongoing enterprise bargaining dispute between the City of Melbourne management and staff.
The council has proposed pay increases of 2.5 per annum, but sticking points continue to include the pay gap between senior executives and other staff and redundancy and disciplinary provisions.
The work bans will end on Monday morning and striking workers will not be paid.
A City of Melbourne spokesman said the council was "disappointed" in the industrial action as it "was unnecessary at this point and does not contribute to successful negotiations".
"Motorists should continue to abide by parking restrictions as our parking officers will continue to patrol the city," he said.
