People can also use the chance to change the batteries in their smoke detectors and ensure other alarms and appliances are in proper working order.
The change in time will commence at 2am on Sunday, when the clocks will be brought forward an hour to 3am.
Daylight savings also begins in SA, Tasmania, NSW and the ACT.
Daylight saving ends on Sunday, April 2.
