A former manager at National Australia Bank in Port Fairy, Ms Holcombe was awarded the Pride of Workmanship award by the town’s Rotary club.
Governor of the Rotary 9780 district, Stephen Lamont, was on hand to present the award to Ms Holcombe.
While he was in town, Mr Lamont also met with the board of the Port Fairy Rotary Club.
The 9780 district encompasses 59 clubs across Western Victoria.
Port Fairy Rotary Club president Adrian Crosier said it was great to have Mr Lamont visit the club.
“It was nice to have him here and to be able to talk to him about what our club is doing,” Mr Crosier said.
“He is obviously a very busy man so we are thrilled he found time to come down and visit us.
“He has a lot of things on his agenda.
“He is very passionate about the work Rotary does on an international scale.
“But having said that, he is also excited about the local project’s clubs like ours are taking on.”
Mr Crosier was elected as president in July and has identified a number of projects for the club to focus on during his term.
At the head of the list is the Bandari Project which aims to improve school facilities in the Tanzanian village of Mto wa Mbu.
This project is the brainchild of Port Fairy resident Seif Sakate.
Mto wa Mbu is Mr Sakate’s home village.
Port Fairy Rotary Club and the Port Fairy Folk Festival got on board early to help Mr Sakate follow through with his vision for the village of Mto wa Mbu.
