Team manager Rebecca Ratcliffe said Warrnambool and District fielded under 16 boys’ and girls’ sides against under 14 Victorian and South Australian outfits at their Cramer Street base from Sunday. The four state sides used the three-day tournament as preparation for the national titles.
Ratcliffe said it was a challenging but rewarding experience for the Warrnambool and District players.
“They were pretty strong but it was a great experience for our kids,” she said.
“The boys had a win against South Australia and the girls drew with South Australia. Victoria has been training for a couple of months, twice a week, and the South Australian team was only put together recently.”
Ratcliffe said it was hoped Warrnambool and District could host similar events in the near future.
