A $5 packet of towels purchased from the bank will help fund a getaway for people diagnosed with breast cancer and their families, courtesy of the OTIS Foundation. The towels, previously used to dry sterilised hands at hospitals, are normally discarded after a single use.
Branch manager Steve Walker said the staggering statistics prompted his staff to act.
“We have 10 staff, six of whom are female,” Mr Walker said.
“The sad fact is those odds suggest someone in this building will be impacted by this insidious disease.
“If all we have to do is sell a few towels to help, it’s the least we can do.”
