Finch stepped up to the coach the Magpies’ open grade side just a month out from the start of the season and made an immediate impact.
He proved to be a good fit for the side, which features his daughters Jaymie and Emily in goals, even though his background is in football.
Finch guided the Magpies to within a hair’s breadth of a premiership, with Camperdown going down in extra time against Port Fairy on Saturday.
They finished minor premiers after notching 16 wins. “It’s been fantastic and I’ve loved every minute of it,” Finch said of his first season.
“I’m not a fine art of a netball coach, I wouldn’t call myself (that), but I just like a challenge and it was something that was put up in front of me and I thought, ‘Why not?’”
“I enjoyed every minute of it and probably would love to do it again.”
