Celebrating cultures: Hopkins Falls was roaring yesterday not only with floodwaters but also with a performance by the local Kirrae Whurong dancers and other events.

More than 300 people gathered at Hopkins Falls yesterday for a Land and Water Celebration, part of the Culture, Creativity & Place II event that continues today at Deakin University. Yesterday’s celebration and today’s Elders for Environment conference will share not only local Aboriginal culture but also that of the Samson Cree Indians from Canada and explore many national and international environmental and cultural issues.
