Helicopter onlookers are urged to stand clear of the flight path at Portland District Health.

Authorities fear those standing too close might obstruct landing and delay the transfer of critically-ill patients. Corporate services director Ros Jones advised viewers to stand outside the clearly marked areas, following concerns pilots had raised.

“People need to remain behind the designated signs,“ she said. “It’s crucial that the helicopter has safe access to the helipad… to make sure it’s safe for everyone.”
